Are you sitting comfortably?

As we go through life, I believe that we all have the responsibility to give a little back as we go.  Lend a helping hand where we can or give someone a boost on their own journey.

One of the most rewarding parts of my career to-date has, undoubtedly, been my time imparting my communications knowledge to students of the crafts of marketing and PR.

Over the past 11 years I’ve been engaged in the transferral of knowledge for the Cambridge Marketing College and this weekend had the pleasure of tutoring a wonderful group of delegates in Manchester.

Studying PR as part of their CAM Diploma in Marketing Communications, the conversation turned to social media and the vital role it plays in business today.  It reminded me of how much things have changed in PR over the years and how necessary it is for today’s successful professionals to be as accomplished in digital techniques as much as traditional.

Keeping completely up with the latest communications trends is the greatest challenge in tutoring any subject, particularly PR and Advertising as I do, and I am grateful that running my own consultancy enables me to do just that.

I have no doubt that being a practising professional is one of the main reasons why the College achieves significantly higher pass rates than the national average, a fact that I am very proud of.

And what’s the best reward? When my delegates pass their exams and achieve their full potential.
