Januarys are pretty unattractive.
At least, they usually are. Post-Christmas blues, gloomy cold weather and to make it worse, I’ve been keeping off the alcohol all month in an attempt to do a ‘dry January’.

As I was getting ready for the Hogmanay celebrations, I was mulling over the past year and began to recount some of the wonderful opportunities 2011 had presented.
So, as one year ends and another begins, it seems an appropriate time to share my best nine lives of 2011…
As a consultant I’m on the constant look-out for opportunities to promote my clients and, with time at a premium, it is often difficult to dedicate any effort to promoting myself!
So, this festive season, I decided to create a small campaign to raise awareness of the range of services I offer amongst existing clients and to encourage potential clients to commission me.
Having cultivated a decent amount of followers on the social networking sites I’m active on, I decided to use this medium to communicate a simple message on a daily basis, with a view to creating repetition and cultivating expectation. (more…)

As we go through life, I believe that we all have the responsibility to give a little back as we go. Lend a helping hand where we can or give someone a boost on their own journey.
One of the most rewarding parts of my career to-date has, undoubtedly, been my time imparting my communications knowledge to students of the crafts of marketing and PR.
Over the past 11 years I’ve been engaged in the transferral of knowledge for the Cambridge Marketing College and this weekend had the pleasure of tutoring a wonderful group of delegates in Manchester.
I’d like to think that I wasn’t a hard-nosed, light-in-the eyes, interrogating kind of interviewer, but there are instances when you have to probe a little deeper before the interviewee reveals all.
For the best part of a year, I have been project managing the production and promotion of an tremendously exciting project – a new limited edition photographic book by internationally renowned rock photographer Nick Elliott.

Recently I have been managing a wonderful project that made me consider my own sanity, as well as the rest of the people who work in the music industry – the organisation of a fabulous exhibition of fine art photography from internationally renowned rock photographer Nick Elliott.
Just This Side of Sane is a collection of 25 limited edition prints and is set to rock contemporary art space jgallery in Mouton, Northampton, from 20th November.
The exhibition showcases images of some of the most recognised performers in rock music history such as Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Plant, and Roger Daltrey alongside some queens of pop music including Blondie, Beverley Knight and Imelda May. (more…)
