Client: De Montfort Hall
Brief: Leicester’s largest entertainment venue, De Montfort Hall, hosted the city’s first annual music festival, Summer Sundae Weekender, maximising use of the location’s grounds and indoor stages. The organisers were looking to strengthen the presence of the event and to raise awareness of the promotion of the pedigree of the artists on the bill.
Solution: Many of which were well-known and established bands such as: The Arctic Monkeys, Supertramp, Talking Heads, Amy Winehouse, Ordinary Boys, Chrissie Hynd, Emmylou Harris, and Idlewild, to name a few.
A suite of marketing materials were constructed featuring historical information and catalogue of recordings on the 70 artists performing during the festival.
Results: The project was wide ranging and encompassed: researching and interviewing artists; liaison with record labels and managements companies; and the writing of biographies, summaries and descriptions for the entire bill.
This commission was won for three years consecutively and the festival sold out to 12,000 visitors each year.
