Client: Deep Red Radio

Brief: As audio and visual media continue to gain prominence over the written word, the demands for broadcast rather than print is journalism is on the increase. On-demand radio channel, Deep Red Radio, wanted to capitalise on audio content that had been created originally as reference for printed features and articles.

Solution: A podcast channel was created to broadcast a series of interviews with high-profile names in the world of music, arts and entertainment that I had undertaken over the years.

Archive recordings were edited and analogue tape recordings were digitally remastered to create content suitable for airing. Introductions were written and recorded for each individual podcast and a unique jingle penned by a professional singer-songwriter for the series.

The dedicated domain name CATtales.co.uk was purchased to facilitate promotion and the series also syndicated on iTunes.

Results: CATtales audio channel was created featuring all musical genres including; Bowie’s guitarist, Earl Slick, glam-rock Slade’s Dave Hill, the legendary Sex Pistol, Glen Matlock, and Teardrop Explodes’ Julian Cope, amongst others.

The series achieved over 5.3k listens in the three months following launch.
